Observation 1: A Trial Lesson In Action

This is the introductory lesson that I teach.

I teach the introductory lesson in a one-on-one format for two reasons.

  1. I am setting the foundation here in a fun environment. There is so much “talking” at the beginning of instruction. I want to get as much of that done as possible outside of the context of the group.
  2. It gives me a chance to set expectations and “market” to the parent.

In just so happens that this particular student is the child of a family friend. So, there is already a level of comfort with this parent. I “joke” a little bit more with this parent. However, the “marketing” that I do is largely the same as with a family I’m meeting for the first time.

The “parent discussion” portion begins at around the 18-19 minute mark.
