Observation 4: How To Teach the Staff In Group

This video will give you an idea of how to teach the staff to a student who has never learned the staff before.

This is a great example of almost all of the foundational principles of group:

  • Teaching the hands, not the head
  • Teaching the process
  • Putting pressure on the student
  • Saying as little as possible

This is the student’s fifth or sixth lesson.

Once again, I would say this is an average student. Notice how little time it takes him to pick up the concept… and I’m doing none of the work for him.
